Helicopter Escape

Play Helicopter Escape Online Free

Helicopter Escape is a free online route puzzle. Each helicopter trails a long winding body across the board — tap one to fly it out, but only when the line straight ahead of its nose is clear.

How to Play

Helicopter Escape is a one-tap route puzzle. Every helicopter on the board is a long dashed stretch winding across it, with the aircraft drawn at the nose. That nose faces one of four directions — up, down, left, or right — and that is the way the whole thing flies when you tap it.

A helicopter can only take off if the line straight ahead of its nose is clear all the way to the edge of the board. Its own winding body is irrelevant; what counts is whether anything sits in the straight path it is pointing down. Tap one whose path is blocked and it stays grounded, and the wasted tap costs one of your four hearts.

Each helicopter that gets away frees every square its body was occupying, so a single departure can open the board up several moves ahead. Clear them all to finish the level. Boards grow denser and change shape as you climb, and every level after the first runs on a countdown.

Controls

  • Send a helicopter out: click or tap it. The whole aircraft flies off in the direction its nose points — you never pilot it.
  • Check before you tap: follow the straight line from the nose to the edge of the board. If another helicopter sits anywhere in it, this one cannot leave yet.
  • Zoom and pan: use the + / − buttons, pinch to zoom, or drag an empty part of the board to move around a crowded level.
  • Settings (gear, top right): sound effects, music, vibration, light/dark theme, restart this level, and reset all progress.

What is Helicopter Escape?

Helicopter Escape is a free online route puzzle that plays entirely in your browser. Every level is a board packed with helicopters, each drawn as a long dashed stretch winding across it with the aircraft at the nose. Tap one and the whole thing lifts off in the direction that nose is pointing — but only if the line straight ahead of it is empty all the way to the edge, which at the start of a level it almost never is.

The result is a board where everything is waiting on something else. Bodies wrap around and across each other, so the helicopter with the clearest line out is rarely the one that looks least trapped. Four hearts give you room for a few misreads — a blocked tap costs one — and clearing every aircraft solves the level.

Tips and Tricks

  • Look ahead of the nose, not along the body. The dashed stretch behind a helicopter is the helicopter — only something in the straight line in front of it can keep it grounded.
  • Find the machines already pointing at open sky. Every board has at least one with a clear line out, and getting it away usually frees several more.
  • The long ones are worth hunting. A helicopter whose body snakes across the board clears every one of those squares when it leaves, so it opens far more than a short one.
  • A blocked tap costs a heart. Four per level, no exceptions, so trace the line before you commit rather than testing it with a tap.
  • Work in from the edges. Aircraft near a boundary have the shortest lines to keep clear, and each departure widens the gap for whatever was behind them.
  • Zoom out to find the free machine, zoom in to tap it. Dense boards make neighbouring helicopters easy to hit by accident, and that mistake costs a heart too.

Why People Love Helicopter Escape

The appeal is how fast a board goes from "there is no way out of this" to clearing itself. Once you spot the one helicopter with a free line, its departure usually unlocks two more, and those unlock the rest. It is a pure ordering puzzle: no piloting, no timing windows, no reflexes — just reading which line is genuinely clear.

The dashed bodies make that reading a pleasure rather than a chore; the whole dependency map is on screen and it can still surprise you. Four hearts keep you honest, the countdown keeps sessions short, and with 100 handmade levels plus endlessly generated boards afterwards there is always another one. Free, no install, and identical on phone and desktop.

FAQ

What is Helicopter Escape?
Helicopter Escape is a free browser puzzle game. Each helicopter is a long winding shape with the aircraft at its nose, and tapping it flies the whole thing off the board in the direction the nose points — as long as the line ahead is clear. Clear every helicopter to finish the level.
How do you play Helicopter Escape?
Tap or click a helicopter and it flies out in the direction its nose faces. You never steer it — the only decision is which one to send out, and in what order. Each departure clears every square that helicopter was occupying, freeing whatever it was blocking.
Why did nothing happen when I tapped a helicopter?
Its take-off line was blocked. A helicopter can only leave if the straight line from its nose to the edge of the board is completely empty — another aircraft anywhere in that line keeps it grounded, and the wasted tap costs one of your four hearts.
What happens when I run out of hearts?
The level ends. From there you can retry it from the start, or take the +1 heart option and continue with the board exactly as you left it.
Is there a time limit?
Yes, from the second level onward — the countdown is shown in the top bar. If it runs out you can retry the level, or take the +120 seconds option and keep your progress on that board.
How many levels does Helicopter Escape have?
There are 100 handcrafted levels, and the game generates fresh boards after that, so it never runs out. Later boards are larger, denser, and change shape.
Is Helicopter Escape free to play?
Yes — completely free, with no downloads, no signup, and no payments. It runs in any modern browser on desktop and mobile.
Does Helicopter Escape work on mobile?
Yes. Everything is one tap, so it plays naturally on phones and tablets. Pinch to zoom and drag to pan when a board is too crowded to read.
Will my progress be saved?
Level progress and your best streak are stored locally in your browser. They persist across reloads but reset if you clear your browser data.
